Midwife

The Bost Institute of Health Sciences was established in Lashkar Gah, Helmand Province, with a license number 3111 from the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan in 1392/03/02.

Overview

The Bost Institute of Health Sciences has developed its own teaching method and curriculum in accordance with the rules and regulations of private institutes of the Ministry of Public Health. Having trained students in the health sector through professional and professional instructors and presenting them to the community; To play a constructive role in reducing the existing health problems of the community.

Bost Institute of Health Sciences will conduct its first entrance examination in the fields of Nursing, Advanced Midwifery, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory and Dental Prosthetics in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Public Health and practically started its operations in 1393/09/07.

From the establishment of Bost Institute of Health Sciences till year 1399 has graduated 473 students in total from which 153 female and 320 are male students. 

Bost Institute of Health Sciences currently has 597 male and female students studying under 32 professional instructors.

Midwifery is a collection of medical sciences that covers a wide range of aspects including counseling, education, care, support, treatment and research. All of these functions have a mother-child relationship meaning that midwifery provides counseling before, during and after marriage, showing how to organize the family, providing maternal and child health services during pregnancy and natural childbirth. And teaches girls adolescence and post-adolescent health education. The limits of the midwifery profession begin before birth and continue after birth and up to the age of six.

The vision of the midwifery program is to enable its students to provide high quality health services in maternal and child health to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.

Mission

The foundation's main mission is to train midwifery students to be able to work in the following areas of the health system: * Learn skills related to maternal and child health. * Learn skills to provide quality services during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal. * Learn skills related to complication identification, complication management and regression if necessary.

Career Opportunities

Midwives provide advice, care and support for women and their babies during pregnancy, labour and the early postnatal period. You’ll help women to make their own decisions about the care and services they access and will provide health education and parenting advice until care is transferred to a health visitor.
